He had a soul. The words pierced her ears, hammering into her mind. So Jay wasn't good enough because she didn't have a soul? "Summers, I don't care. Not all vampires are evil. It's just like not all Slayers are good. Would you really think that I would compromise our safety if I didn't think Jay was good? I'm not used to love. And I'm not letting it go." Zy stood up, her eyes flashing with anger. Her words of, I don't care sounded a bit like Faith when she said it.
Zy had been neglected and pretty much abandoned by her parents, her sister agreed she should go into an institution. Her watcher, dead. Rain was dead. And she didn't even know if Faith was alive. Her hands curled into fists, trying to let go of her anger, trying to think about Buffy's point of view. But she didn't. She felt her emotions rise up, anger, hatred, sadness, betrayal. Even though Buffy didn't betray her, Zy felt it.
It was like being back in the institution, getting shocks and being told things, things that made you feel worthless. Her nails dug into her palms and blood dripped from the claw marks. This felt good, this is what she was used to. Pain, blood, then euphoria. Her eyes, losing part of their anger, was replaced with something that looked like she was high on drugs.
"I've lost everything, everyone. Being a Slayer is great, being in love is great. I don't think I can decide which one I prefer." Zy looked at Buffy. Buffy lost her mother, and Angel. But she had her sister, her friends, her watcher. There were many people that helped and looked after Buffy but Zy barely had anyone. Pleading was in her eyes next. She didn't want to lose her home at the Council, but she also didn't want to lose Jay.
She began to pace, walking from one side of the room to the other. She felt hot, so pulling of her jacket and placing it over the chair, Zy was only in her Evanescence shirt, jeans and shoes. The scars on her arms and wrists showed but Zy was oblivious to the fact. Running her fingers through her hair, Zy was starting to get panicky, which sped up her heart. She knew Jay would be able to feel the change in her emotions, just by the simple beating of her heart. From slow beating to a fast thumping, Zy wondered if she would pass out. The feeling reminded her of when she overdosed, something she never told anyone.
"I don't want to leave here." Zy whispered as she stopped pacing. She felt alone, and lost, in her thoughts and emotions. Her eyes threatened to well up with hot tears, but she managed to hold them in, her body shaking in silent sobs. Being in the Council made her feel important, something that only Faith had managed to accomplish.
Zy stopped pacing, pulling her chair towards her and slumping into it, eyes closing before her eyelashes shone. Wiping her eyes, Zy reopened them, looking from Buffy to Jay. She felt like a failure. She couldn't even get another Slayer to keep from seeing the good in Jay. Buffy had every reason to be wary. Zy didn't blame Buffy.
((-eyes post- wow, sorry for the length. just got a bit carried away.))
