Just find a light
And switch it off.
As easy as blinking.
That's what I was taught
When I was too young to ask
By ladies in white nightgowns,
In dripping weeds and black ribbons.
A girl's best friend is a small handgun.
The question was useless
For I could say yes,
But you've got to ask my army
And they are not inclined to grant favours just now...

Physical Info
Height and Weight: 4'11, 118lbs, 6oz.
Appearance: Addoed is a tiny girl, short for her age, with very straight black hair that goes just past her bust line. She has very pale skin, ghostlike, really, and very dark brown eyes that are nearly black. She wears black or dark red lipstick, and a variety of different eye shadows that range from gray, to red, to midnight blue, to silver. She loves wearing black clothes with corsets, built-in, under-bust, over-bust, or not. She loves buckles and chains, as well. Her favorite accessory is a silver chain around her throat with a tiny, old-looking, slightly bent ankh. She loves the irony that it originally meant good health, and that it was now an international symbol for vampirism, death and immortality. Her face has high cheek-bones, coinciding with those of a Norwegian heritage, though she has none, and her favorite (and most maintained) feature is her eyebrows, that are pointedly arched and seem to slowly fade into her flesh as they grow thinner at their outer edges.

Mental/Emotional Info
Likes: There are two things she likes to do, explore old places, and the nighttime, which was strictly forbidden to her in her old home. She loves learning things about history, reading old tomes, despite their dryness, and absolutely adores everything about the night in all of its dark splendor. She loves a strange variety of music, with artists such as Emilie Autumn, Birthday Massacre, Hate in the Box, and so many others.
Dislikes: Applying herself in school. She hates it, because she thinks that setting up a grading system to measure a child's learning process, measuring their potential, and then judging them based upon such a system without knowing that child is unfair, impractical, and just plain idiotic. She despises being judged as a result of her family's tumultuous relationship with her and her brother. She also dislikes meat-eating. She's a vegan.
Fears: Addoed fears being caught by her parents, now that she's finally free of them. She doesn't want to be killed, and she absolutely hates fire. It's bright, warm, and it hurts her. She fears authority. She despises them for crushing her childhood. She fears children, because they have a way of knowing exactly who and what you are with merely a glance. And she fears the sun, she believes it is poison.
Strengths: She is most at home in the dark, and that's where she stays. She is not afraid of death, so danger is something she lives for. She obviously has her senses to help guide her through places. She believes she draws her power from the moon, and is mostly active when it is full. It's obviously psychosomatic, but she allows her full array of sensory enhancements to play around the full moon. She also finds that her power is even more augmented near salt water. Again, psychosomatic.
Weaknesses: Fire, sunlight, already explained, blood, she can't stand the smell of it, large crowds, their scents are overwhelming, the new moon (psychosomatic), and the heat and the cold. She can feel them all too well.
Personality: Addoed prefers two things, being by herself, off on some imaginary (or very real) adventure, or being with her brother, who practically raised her. She loves being different, and takes pride in unnerving the 'normals', as she calls them. She's to very different kinds of people rolled into one small body. At first, she's practical, stubborn, and very caustic, liking to get things done as quickly and efficiently as possible to make room for free time. Then, using that free time, she becomes childlike, capricious, and wild, loosing all inhibition while playing out some grand fantasy in her mind, or really escaping from danger (like the cops after breaking and entering) with complete abandon. She doesn't really things without doing them fully.

Background Info
Birthplace: Windsor, Vermont (n.n)
History: Born in Windsor/Ascutney Hospital, Adilia Mary was 4lbs, 11oz. She was born three weeks premature, and for a month, couldn't seem to put on the required weight to be released into her parent's care. Though the doctors swore up and down that she was perfectly healthy, it took a little over a month to be released. But the damage had already been done. You see, in the La Fae family, there is a period of Indoctrination that ensures how your child's personality will be when they grow up. After three weeks of life, the period is over. Since they weren't able to be around her for over a month, Adilia would grow up nothing like her two parents, just like her brother, who was kidnapped from his hospital bed the day he was born and brought to his parents' doorstep a month later.
Because she was influenced mainly by the night nurses at the hospital (one in particular by the name of Abigale, who was as gothic and strange as they come), Adilia, too, became strange and gothic, and showed signs of it very early on. Her senses were enhanced due to the long periods of times she spent listening to Abigale talk about mutants with super senses. When she was three, she couldn't sleep at night, and slept all day, like her brother. This concerned their parents, but they knew they couldn't abandon their children, despite their lack of normalcy, because a La Fae never abandoned a child. Ever. So they dealt with it. At the age of five, Adilia was dubbed Addoed by her nine-year-old brother Bryan, who now went only by Berigen. She, too, chose to only respond to that name. Her parents despaired that their children would forever be a spot on their name.
Throughout her school life, Addoed was a very apt student, bright, and willing to learn. But she never applied herself, and as a result, her grades were terrible, but not enough to fail her. Her brother made sure she at least passed her classes. And her teachers knew that she knew the material. She never made any friends in school, and never was truly concerned about it, either, because at the age of 15, she was quite sure that none of her classmates would care about fantastic adventures, such as princesses slaying wicked kings and queens for their freedom, and running wild through the Amazon forest with her other sisters, wildly slaughtering men as they came and went.
After finishing High School, Addoed and Berigen, tired of their parents' instance that they change themselves into something they had no desire to be, normal, decided to flee away from their parents' vice-like grip. They wanted to go to England to escape. Unfortunately, during the confusion of getting away in secret and evading the police, they both ended up on two separate aeroplanes, Berigen getting lost somewhere in Germany, and Addoed finding herself in Misery.

Cool. It was cool out. The just-above-freezing temperature left goose flesh on her arms as Addoed walked along slowly on the old cobblestone path leading away from the airport and into the city that lay quietly ahead. Bathed as it was in the moonlight, she could see all different kinds of things there, stores, shops, bars, banks, all open twenty-four hours, by the looks of all the people strolling in and out of the doors, alley ways lit only by a few feeble street lamps, houses and towers built for whatever reasons, and so much more that her eyes couldn't see because of the shadows that blanketed the entire city. As it was, she was walking through a sparse forest that lay nestled on a hill overlooking the dark city, so she had a pretty good view with the moonlight streaming from behind her.
The thing that struck her most, though, was the fact that there were so many people out and about this late at night. It was nearly eleven, and she could see so many people going about their business, running around with their errands as though the sun hadn't gone down at all.
Such a thing wouldn't have ever been allowed at her town in Vermont, there was a ten o'clock curfew that all people under eighteen had to obey, and by that time, you had to get used to not being out at night or risk being brought in by the cops, which was never fun at all. Especially for her, because her mother had this thing, where if you weren't normal, you were a disgrace to everything human. So there was a lot of fights between her and her mother, and though her father was passive when it came to arguments, he had the same views as her mother.
Addoed sighed and switched her thoughts to something else. Her brother was lost. She didn't know what aeroplane he'd gotten on, but he was definitely nowhere near her. He was probably in a completely different country. She wouldn't even know where she was had there not been a sign reading, 'Misery' on her way down to the city on the path she was now getting off.
Consequently, there was a building that was a small shop on the corner she stood on. 'M Antiques', it read. Intrigued, she stepped inside. It was dusty, and the light was very low, barely enough for her to see by, even though she had better night vision than most people. It seemed designed for a sharper vision, but she didn't know who could possibly see in such darkness.
Somewhere in the back of the shop, she could just barely make out a man's face. Old and wrinkled, with white hair shooting out in every direction, a stooped back, thin body, and large hands weathered and spotted with age and time. He wore a wrinkled old suit, a gray jacket, dark gray pants, and an old brown vest over a white button-up shirt. His shoes were pointed and old-fashioned, and very dusty, like everything else in the shop, but the man didn't seem to really care.
He moved slowly and quietly, as though trying not to disturb the many artifacts he had in the quiet little shop, and moved closer to her, past a book case and nearer to a light. She didn't have to squint to see him now, so she tried for polite as she spoke to him.
"Excuse me, sir, but, can you tell me what sorts of things you have in this shop?" she asked, her low soprano voice came out in a quiet sort of way, which sounded just fine to her, but apparently the man thought otherwise, because his old face, calm as the sea, suddenly contorted angrily, his dark eyes flashed menacingly under his hooded brow.
"Don't you mock me, vampire!" He roared. She immediately jumped back, startled. She raised her hands up in a defensive placating gesture
"I'm not mocking anybody!" She exclaimed, her eyes wide. "I'm human, normal, I swear!" She added, not knowing why she'd just been called a vampire. But at these words, the man seemed to calm down a little. He moved slowly over to a far wall and adjusted the lights so that it was a little bit brighter. Then he turned back to her.
"Human, you should get out while you can." Was all that he said.
