Jonathan charged through the sewers as fast as he could whilst clutching his side. He hobbled along further, dirty water slashing up around his knees, blood pouring from a gash in his head, fingers bloody from keeping pressure on another wound to his side.
Eventually he had to stop and lean against a wall. Dripping with muck and slime, it was all Jonathan needed. But he had to catch his breath. He inhaled quick, snappy and painful bursts of breath and exhaled in a similar fashion.
I had no idea there would be so many down here... Jonathan thought to himself as he adjusted his night vision goggles. He'd dusted a huge chunk of them and it was all going well. The next few seconds were a blur... either one had had a torch or knew some kind of magic, because suddenly his goggles were being overloaded and his eyes watered with a stinging pain.
He'd been completely blinded for a few seconds until his goggles were able to filter out the light, but that was all it needed for a few Vampires to jump him and beat him down. While Jonathan was pretty sure he could match a Slayer offensively, he didn't have anything close to a Slayer's resilience. All he could do was charge on through and try to burst out of the other end.
Now he was bleeding and hopelessly lost. He'd checkout out blue prints for the sewer before heading down there, but he'd be damned if he could remember half of them. Not that it'd be much help right now.
Got to think...
But it was getting harder. Panic was setting in. The Vampires couldn't be too far behind; Jonathan was bleeding and they knew the layout. Jonathan's ability to aura read was compromised by a complete inability to focus.
Have to... keep moving... Jonathan eventually convinced himself, pushing off from the wall and continuing to a slow limp down the tunnels...
