Ok so this is a Harry Potter fanfic that takes place during the Order of The Phoenix (movie/book-doesn't really make a difference). First ever HP fic that I've written, and it was just a one shot thing. Its femslash (like I usually write) and the pairing is Ginny/Tonks.
INSIDE
After dinner, Nymphadora Tonks had made her way upstairs to the room she had been assigned to stay in, desperate to get away from everyone else. She knew that she was here for a reason, to help fight back against You-Know-Who, who has been building up his forces. But didn’t mean she had to socialize with them, even though she pretended not to mind when she was surrounded by people.
There was an unexpected knock at the door, causing Tonks to stand up from the bed on which she sat. “Who is it?” she asked, as she moved to the door. A brief reply came, a young girl announcing that it was Ginny, one of the few people that Tonks did not mind being around. So, she opened the door, allowing the younger girl to enter.
Ginny, the redheaded Weasley girl whom Tonks had humored changing the shape of her nose into a pig snout then a beak at dinner, took a seat down on the bed. “Everything alright?” Tonks asked, wondering just why the girl had come to her room, interrupting her time alone. Of course she didn’t try to sound as if she was being bothered, even though she was.
“I was actually going to ask you the same question,” Ginny replied, looking up at the purple headed girl, which the color seemed quite faded. The question was of whether Tonks noticed it or not, but it seemed to show that she was distressed about something. “You disappeared after dinner. Is something wrong?”
Tonks was surprised to hear the tone of concern in the girl’s voice, it was much more mature than her age showed. Perhaps it was the surprise or perhaps it was Ginny’s tone of voice, but either way Tonks couldn’t help but speak out. “Its tiring, you know, being down with all those people.” Her voice cracked and even though she didn’t notice it, Ginny did.
Concerned, Ginny stood up and moved over to where Tonks was standing by the door. “What do you mean?” she asked, confused. Tonks usually seemed so outgoing and outspoken. She had seemed to be having fun at dinner, she seemed to enjoy making people laugh, Ginny herself included.
“I know I’m here for a good reason, I do. But I can’t help but feel like I shouldn’t be here with the rest of you,” she answered, averting her eyes from Ginny’s. This just made Ginny even more concerned, because she was feeling like an outsider. She asked herself how come nobody noticed Tonks feelings of loneliness, but it was obvious that Tonks masked herself well. But before she was able to say anything, Tonks continued.
“You all seem so sure of what’s going on. So sure of who you are...” The last line was barely a whisper it had been so quiet. Nevertheless, Ginny heard it and she finally began to understand what this was about. She raised her thumb to Tonks cheek, gently wiping a tear that had rested there. “I have no clue who I am, because of what I am. I can be anything, be anyone.” She was fully crying now, unable to restrain herself any longer.
“You’re Tonks,” Ginny responded, trying to comfort her, to stop the tears. “That’s all you need to be. It doesn’t matter what you look like. What matters is in here.” She placed her hand over where Tonks’ heart was, emphasizing her point. She looked up, once again making eye contact with the metamorphous. They both felt each other’s intense gaze, both felt the pulsating air around them. It wasn’t expected, not by anyone. Tonks felt Ginny’s hand on her chest, and Ginny feeling the increasing pulsating beat of her heart beneath her fingers.
They couldn’t break their gaze from one another, and it seemed like forever passed between them. But then in one moment, their lips were on one another. They couldn’t be sure who made the first move, but all they knew in that moment was that they were kissing. They broke apart from each other, their breathing heavy, minds reeling from what had just happened. “That’s all that matters,” Ginny said once again. It seemed resolved for Tonks, she felt like Ginny was right, that it was her feelings that mattered, not her appearance. She smiled sweetly, and once again began to kiss Ginny once more.
