Crashing Down
This is a story i did for a comp on a website. Its after season 8. Its where i have to charry on a story from the bold writing below.
Buffy is running through the hospital. Her face is cut and she looks like she's been crying. Her leather jacket sways with every burst of an opening door. She stops as she sees the stretcher ahead. She breathes heavily looking at who is on it...
Willow was laid on the stretcher with her blood covering her face and her amber red hair, her arms were purple from the bruising left behind from the accident.
“Buff” Xander called to her, he was sitting on the gray chairs, tears were forming in his eyes, his Willow, there Willow was in need of help and there was nothing they could do but watch and wait.
Buffy ran over to him embracing him in her arms and her in his. She couldn’t believe this was happening, after everything they have gone though, all the vampires they have killed all the demons they have slayed and all the people they has save and this is how they get re-paid.
“Xander, I…” She stuttered, she was shacking Xander had never seen her so worried. “We didn’t see it coming, there was nothing I could do, nothing we could do” She said as she whipped her tears away form her blood, and muddy face. She didn’t know how to act, she was the slayer it was her job to save people yet she couldn’t stop the truck, she couldn’t save the man driving and she was scared that she can’t save Willow.
“I she, will she… have the doctors said anything?” Buffy said trying to think of the words to come out. She looked into Xander’s dark eyes wanting the news to be good, hoping the news was good. Her heart was beating faster then normal, she had lost everyone in her life and all she had left was Willow and Xander if anything happened to her Buffy didn’t know how she would reacted. When she lost Dawn and Giles it nearly tipped her over the edge if it wasn’t for Xander and Willow she didn’t know were she would be right now.
“They don’t know anything yet, I only just got here after you phoned me I was in the area so it didn’t take me long” Xander said as Doctors and Nurses ran past. A beeping noise was going off in Willows room and everyone seemed to be in a panic like sate.
“Were losing her” Some said in the background of all the noise. “He hearts rates dropping” Xander herd them say. They both jumped to their feet. Worry plastered their faces even more then before.
Was she going, was she leaving them? They both though
Buffy and Xander ran to the room were Willows limp body laid on the white bed whilst doctors in blue overalls with white masks over their mouths rushed around.
They had cleaned Willow up a bit, but there were still traces of blood on her face and hair.
“What’s happening, what are you doing” Buffy demanded, she needed to know, it wasn’t the case that she wanted to know both the slayer and the best friend need to know what was happening to their red headed Wicca friend.
Buffy’s legs felt like they needed to give way, she felt sick. If only Buffy didn’t insist she was the one that went to the shop and left Willow in the car, she should have let the red head go, Buffy was stronger she would have a better chance of surviving.
“Please leave were doing the best we can” One of the nurses said sympathetically as she hushed them out of the room. The women had blood, Willows blood on her has been white gloves.
“Tell us what’s happening” Xander demanded as tears fell from his dark eyes. He couldn’t bear to lose Willow, she was his best friend, he loved her more then anything in the world they had been though thick and thin, scary and frightening.
“Her heart rates dropping, were doing the best we can, please let us do our job” The women said as she went back into the white room. All Buffy and Xander could do was wait, pray, hope.
“Xander..” Buffy said softly, full of worry, what would she do, she was helpless there was nothing she could do. She fell in the warm embrace of Xander crying. Xander tightly closed his eyes and rested his head on Buffy’s. He tried to keep the tears in but it was no use, tears fell.
Xander herd a zapping like noise coming from Willows room followed by ‘Clear’ and then more zapping like noises. After 26 years of t.v he had knew what that sound meant, and after six zaps the room fell silent. Nothing was to be herd accepted the flat line.
The slayers head shot up with Xander’s, their face‘s turn white, they knew that sound all to well. In theirs years of hunting vampires and demons the hospital became a second home and not one they like visiting.
“Will” Xander spoke silently. At that moment his whole world came crashing down, the walls he had built that kept them together fell down brick by brick. Imagers of them laughing and a having fun flashed in his mind, images of them crying, hurting and sadness followed.
“No” Buffy cried out as she ran to the white swinging doors that lead into Willows room, she pushed past the doors, making them smash into the walls. The image of the truck hitting the red mini Willow had been driving, the noise Willow made as the truck came head on. Her scream echoed in Buffy’ ears.
Buffy and Xander rushed into the room were the body laid, Willow was gone and all that was left was her body and the memory that will linger on until it fades in time.
Everything seemed to move in slow motion as the doctor called out the time of death.
“Time of death 7.30pm” He said as he placed the crash card pads back on the tray.
The doctors left the room, everything seemed to moved slowly, both their worlds came to a halt.
Xander moved towards Willows body, tears racing down his face, as Buffy fell to the ground, crying, Buffy froze her back against the white wall not moving she didn’t want to believe it she couldn’t believe it. Xander took Willows hand in his, tears fell onto the white and red blood stained bed sheet.
“Willow” He said full of sadness, regret and misery. He felt his heart breck, his knees gave way as he feel to the cold floor, distort. They had just lost their best friend, their family. Everything they had was slipping away, and there was nothing they could do apart from watch and let it happen.
