Since the Council had burnt down, Micky had begun to visit it more and more often. She told herself that she was paying her respects, although in all reality she didn't know why. She didn't know if Willow had come back here after Buffy's death, but she was too afraid to ask. She was scared for her girlfriend, scared of what might happen. She knew it was painful, more than most, and she understood what could happen.
But this time, someone else was there when Micky walked towards the rubble. A slayer no doubt, nobody else would be here. "Were you here?" Micky asked as she came up behind the girl.

She paused, gazing off into the distance. "I could've died right then and there too. Just like.. like they did. But I was lucky." She stopped, heart wrenching with remorse.[/ul]

Micky shook her head, more to herself than anything. She hated the fact that she hadn't even been here to fight. If she had to, she would have died fighting for this place, for the cause. But that didn't happen, because she had been too wrapped up in her own agenda. "I didn't even know about it until it was over..." she said, her voice saddened. "I should have been here."

, but the comment really wouldn't brighten either of them. "You shouldn't worry. It was sudden... It all happened so fast." She stopped, and looked down. "Why did they hate us so much? What compelled them to attack us like that?" Addison sighed, almost inaudibly. She was of course referring to the army men.[/ul]

Micky hadn’t met the slayers gaze, and despite what the girl said she still felt like she should have been there to at least try and help. There had to have been something that she could have done. Maybe she would have sent that wall about to fall on Buffy, maybe she would have been able to push the girl away in time before it came crashing down.
Absentmindedly, Micky played with the necklace that Willow had given her. It was for protection, and protection was the first reason Micky had started wearing it for. But now that her deepest fear was gone, she simply wore it because she loved it, she loved Willow. Her job was to fight vampires, and she needed to do that without protection. If she died fighting, so be it.
“I don’t know…” Micky responded, her voice soft, almost a whisper. She didn’t know why the army wanted to bring down the slayers, nobody knew. However, there was one idea that she could not force out of her head no matter how much she wanted to. “I think they were scared,” she continued after a moment’s pause.

She stated, metaphorically with a faint hate filled, half-smile. She was looking back on things. It was all so different before they showed up. "Scared of us? We've never done anything to them. They were never endangered by us... Or were we all just freaks to them?" She muttered, almost just to herself.[/ul]

“Pretty much,” Micky said, her voice almost reaching the point of bitterness. She wasn’t a slayer, but she understood. She might as well have been a slayer, after all she did the same things that they did, they just had heightened abilities. The humans that were a cause of this didn’t understand, they saw slayers as freaks, as a threat to humanity. They would have assumed Micky was a slayer as well, they would have hunted her down. She didn’t consider herself human, not really. But she didn’t consider herself a slayer either. She was stuck in between, a hunter. “I think they were scared ‘cause they didn’t understand. Slayers aren’t human to them, they’re monsters, just like demons.”
