Finally, after hours of headlights, peppermint gum, and AM radio stations Dylan finally pulled the front wheels of her vintage car into the parking lot of the Misery Motel. Sighing, she put the car in gear pushed in the clutch and turned it off, looking up at the bright neon sign. Vacancy, it flashed on and off like a strobe for wary travelers. She looked to the left first, watching a domestic argument take place, and then she looked to the right...watching a stray cat drag it's scrawny legs across the road. Opening the door, she stepped dirty sneaker first into the hard packed red clay. Making her way into the Motel office she walked by a few call girls, cigarettes lit, and ready to make a deal. Pushing past the trash she walked in, and up to the ever so inviting bulletproof glass the caretaker was behind.
As she attempted to ring the broken bell out front, a man took a long drag on his smoke and stepped out from behind a wall, coming up to the glass and poking at it.
"Just one?" He managed to push out past his rotten teeth, even bullet proof glass not doing much for his breath. Looking to her left, and then to her right making a mockery of the man she smirked, "Yeah just me..."
"Not working tonight?" He retorted, a wicked grin on his face. After he had rung up the room on the outdated calculator of his, she pushed the money through his fail-safe hole. In return she picked up the key from the tray, by the key ring, and swinging it around much like she did with her car keys. She had one last comment, she had to know...poking on the glass herself, she raised an eyebrow. "Lot of draw for someone as sexy as you?" The man looked at her very seriously at first, as if he truthfully had an answer. But then in a form of dismissal, he shook his head and disappeared back behind his makeshift privacy curtain.
Backing away a little in precaution, she turned and pushed open the door to the reception, back out into the warm air of the evening. Making her way to her car, she began to arrange what she would need, and wouldn't. Lifting her head up, she bumped it quite severely on the top of the trunk. Taking a step back, and shaking it off, she looked around to see if anyone had seen, and then continued on her task at hand.
