Xander felt triumphant, she had no comeback. He was smiling as she searched for words and... fell over into the lake. OK now he was conflicted, one the one hand she had just injured him and deserved a little pain, on the other hand he couldn't let her drown. His thought process took little more than a few seconds. in that time she has resurfaced then dived back under again, what was with people he knew and drowning? He ran out into the lake and carefully lifted Buri out of the lake and put her carefully on the edge of the lake where he had once sat. He couldn't carry her too far, he wasn't god or something, he didn't have the strength at the moment. He decided to just sit beside her. "OK, now you owe me" , well he figured she had to at least buy him a coffee, something as a thankyou for saving her face-scratchy life.
"I coulda let ya drown but me being all humanitarian, whatever that is, I helped you live. You may praise me" he said with a due sense of smugness. She had wanted to kill him and he had just tried to save her, that had to be good karma. Xander than realized that he had had the perfect opportunity to use this to help save Buffy from this nut job, he could use this to his advantage. But first he wanted to make sure she was OK.
((He couldn't let her drown, just not him))

Once Buri was out of the water she began coughing out the water. Luckily Buri’s brain was sane enough to know that water is not for breathing. Buri tried to get herself to cough a little more out even after her body had stopped convulsing. Buri was still shaking, a combination of fear, anger, and confusion. Was it a vision? Or was she just going more insane. Buri couldn’t decide. She then remembered Xander had saved her. Buri looked up, her hair stuck to her face in clumps.
“Thanks.” Buri said.
‘Thanks’ was the only tired and depleted reply Buri could muster. She literally felt like all her live had been sucked out of her. No actually, it left just enough so she could live to back in all the glorious pain. Buri remembered her vision and then let out a string of unladylike curses. In her vision Buri had also seen the mailbox.
“Do you know a ‘Park’ family?” Buri said dryly.
Buri sat up on the ground and leaned against a tree. She wanted to die just then. She couldn’t handle being torn between good and evil. Having two sides screeming in her head to choose. People all around her like Max telling her that she didn’t need redemption, and people like Xander who saved her life even after she harmed him and was plotting to kill his best friend. Yup, Buri officially wanted to die.

Xander was wondering if maybe Buri was having a seizure or something, if she was he had no clue what to do. Luckily for him he didn't have to know cos he saw her snap out of it. He laughed a little as she cursed "Wow, I didn't know half of those words even existed, now I intend to use them in everyday conversation" he said with a giggle. It had gotten so serious that a little humor might help, a little.
Xander thought for a minute, he couldn't remember the name at all "Sorry, never heard of them, or at least if I have I've forgotten. I do that sometimes" he said with a smile, he had figured the longer he could keep Buri's mind off of killing him and Buffy and whoever else she was planning to kill the better and he could do that the only way he knew how, by being an idiot "Why did you wanna know anywho?" He asked dumbly, which was how he always asked questions

Buri cracked a smile at Xander. It was nice to be around someone who wasn’t doom and gloom all the time. By now Buri had officially decided not to kill him, assuming she could in her current state. Buri forgot about the strange vision she just got. If she didn’t know any better she would think they were two completely normal strangers passing by the lake when on fell in. Sadly, Buri knew better, but for the moment she forgot, just a moment.
“You’re funny.” Buri said with a little laugh.
Buri then frowned when he answered her question. He didn’t know them. Well good, then she wouldn’t have to tell him that someone he knew might be dead. Buri shook her head. She hadn’t known them either. That meant they were probably a normal law abiding family who had an accident with there stove, killing them all.
“I think…I think they may be dead...?” Buri said uncertainty.
“Wow, I thought saying it out loud would sound less insane. Nope, still sound insane.” Buri joked as she put her hand on her forhead.

Xander smiled, as long as Buri thought he was funny there was a huge chance that he wouldn't get dead. "Well I try, then ten minutes later when I catch my breath I try again" he said, the little humor he had used had so far saved his life, more should keep it going longer.
He was still a little curious about why she asked about this Park family, but his curiosity was soon satisfied...well not satisfied, there were dead people after all, nothing satisfying about that. So his curiosity was...quelled, that's a better word.
Xander looked directly into Buri's eyes "It didn't sound insane at all, trust me I know insane I live it and am it daily. Do you have any idea how these people died Buri?" he asked, the more info he could get, the more he could help out.

Buri let the corners of her mouth turn up at his joke. When he asked about the family Buri looked away. As if it would help her remember. Buri had been so stunned by the pain, she hadn’t thought to, or been able to, write anything down. Buri searched her mind. Yes the fire…there was a fire.
“I think…it was a fire. The oven, it exploded.” Buri hesitated before continuing.
“Why do you trust me? You know I am insane and she know I have a grudge again your friend and I hope, for your own safety, you know that the best way to get to someone is to kill someone they love. For all you know I could be making this up as I go along.” Buri tilted her head to the side.
Buri conked herself on the head with her hand. Maybe she should just go home and go to bed. Wait, she didn’t have a home. She could turn herself into a mental ward. They would put her to bed for a long time.

Xander took in the Fire info, a fire could mean a lot of things. It could just be a horrible accident or it could be a dancing demon, but since Xander hadn't broken into song since his first meeting with Sweet so he voted for the first option.
He grinned a little "Well in all honesty I don't trust you, in fact if you told me right now that you were a female, I'd probably call you a liar. But no one almost drowns themselves for a bit, A mild head injury sure but drowning is a no. Besides, I think that me saving your life has got to earn both me and Buffy a reprieve from this death thing you had planned" he said. He had some doubt that this woman was just crazy, he knew there had to be a reason for her apparent insanity and he intended to work out what it was.

Buri scoffed at his confidence. It was quite stupid to assume because you saved someone’s life, they would save yours. Though he was correct. Buri had given up on killing both him and Buffy. That brought the question, what would she do now. She had Max, and the voice telling her to be evil, and she had these ‘visions’ telling her to be good. She felt like her arms were being pulled in two directions and she would inevitable split in the middle.
Buri tried to stand up and then wobbled a bit. Once she was fully upright she looked at Xander.
“You shouldn’t assume things. But you are correct. In my current condition I have not the will, nor the power to kill Buffy, or even you. You are safe. For now.” She said the last part with a little smile.

Xander was a little panicky again "For now? and just how do I get rid of that portion of the sentence? Just a hypothetical that I will try and turn into a reality" he said. He had always believed that when you saved someones life they owed you, it was some kind of unwritten law, he knew when he had saved Buffys life he had gotten donuts, maybe donuts was the most he could expect.
Then Xander realised domething that he was stupid to forget "Hey just how the heck did you know that family was dead?" he asked, maybe she had done it, maybe she had witnessed it, maybe Xander was jumping to conclussions, or maybe... actually the conclussions thing sounded good so Xander went with that.

Buri avoided eye contact when Xander asked about how she knew they were dead. That was the problem. She didn’t know. They might all be fine right now, but Buri herself knew that was a candy coated lie. Buri leaned back against a tree for support. She still felt week. From the possible vision and the drowning.
“I think…I may have had….a vision…?” Buri said. Buri laughed at the idea.
“Who am I kidding, the powers that be wouldn’t give me visions unless they knew I had someone on the good side to tell them two. In case you haven’t noticed I myself don’t exactly qualified as good.” Buri laughed, aiming the last part at Xander.
The Powers that be had funny ways of working, Buri knew that already, but what was really bugging her was why her. Why now? She had just decided to yes become evil and then the powers that be had to drop this ‘good’ bomb on her.
