Xander sat on the side of the water that was Lake Misery which was a fairly apt title at this point. He was still in shock over Buffy's behavior and wanted a bit of time to get some air. The water seemed calming in it's stillness and that stillness was so great. The lake looked like a mirror, only the reflection wasn't that clear and Xander couldn't see much, though that could also have something to do with his 50% vision impairment. Yeah that was probably it.
He spotted some stones beside him and decided to skip them across the lake, he remembered how he used to do that all the time, it had been a while since he had done it so he hoped he still had the knack. He grabbed a few and stood on the edge of the water. He took a rock and threw it towards the water, no skip action just a plop in the water. 'Oh well, the first is the worst if I recall' he thought, he'd of said it but speaking aloud to oneself is a sign of madness and people already thought Xander was nuts he didn't need to give them any ammunition.
He took another one and threw it into the water, this time there was a thud and a fish floated to the surface of the lake. "OK, that's enough of that" he said throwing the rest of the rocks aside non-chalantly. He was incredibly bored and now he had committed Halibut Homicide so his day was going swimmingly. He sat back down and just watched as the water returned to it's stillness, the fish floating freely on the surface.

Buri’s eyes traveled aimlessly. She was in one of her slightly insane moods. As in she was arguing with herself. One part of her was saying ‘screw it all, kill everyone.’ The other was saying, well it used to be saying that she didn’t have to be evil but now it was telling her she was to far gone to bother. Buri was walking along the top of a fence. Her head throbbed angrily at her, as if telling her she needed to pick a side, good or evil. She couldn’t just, excuse the pun, keep sitting on the fence. Buri looked from side to side. On one side of her was a lake, on the other was the city.
“Damn, since when did I become all deep and meaning full?” Buri muttered to her self.
Buri jumped of the fence in the direction of the lake. She disturbed a nest of bird eggs in the ground. Probably a quail nest. One of the small eggs cracked open, the yellow yolk dripped down the sides of the nest. It reminded Buri of something her and her cousin would do. It was a rhyme, but while you sang it you did movements with your hands on the other persons back.
Babies are crying. People are dying. Crack an egg on your head and let the yolk drip down, the yolk drip down, the yolk drip down. Stab a knife in your back and let the blood drip down, the blood drip down, the blood drip down. Criss Cross Applesauce. Crack an egg on your head and let the yolk drip down, the yolk drip down, the yolk drip down. Stab a knife in your back and let the blood drip down, the blood drip down, the blood drip down. Tight squeeze. Cool breeze. Now you’ve got the, got the CHILLS.
Buri remembered this in her mind and then began to say it. Buri was no poet but the way she said it would have sent chills down anyone spine. As Buri recited the rhyme over and over again she let her mind wander to her cousin. How she despised her now dead cousin, and her dead sister. If not for them she might have lived a normal life. First they stole her mothers love and then they went and got themselves killed. Buri gritted her teeth. Buri noticed a man sitting on the river side. He looked to be a bit older than Buri herself, but she could be wrong. She absentmindedly continued reciting the rhyme as she came towards him.

Xander was bored, he didn't dare skip any more rock for fear of committing another mackerel murder. He was about to descend into total boredom, which came complete with a nap and some mild snoring, when he heard someone saying some weird rhyme. He looked around and saw a girl walking towards him. OK he now had 2 choices, he could scream and run, or he could try and be social. He thought through all the options, well both of the options, and decided the social route was the better one. "Hi, that's some awesome...Rhyme you were rhyming there. Sorry my talking isn't at it's peak today" he said with a smile and a laugh. He stood up and offered his hand out "Hi, I'm Xander, a total stranger who's randomly talking to you by a oddly named lake" he said smiling. He was fairly OK when it came to making new friend as long as he didn't say something stupid, which was kinda his thing.

It took Buri a moment to recognize the name. Xander, as in Buffy Summer’s friend. A deep hate rose from Buri. The reason she had joined the army was to kill all slayers, including Buffy. Buri let out a hiss like sound for no apparent reason. Her first instinct was to attack. Buri lifted her hand and in a split second her long nails had connected with Xander’s cheek, leaving two red welts. It took Buri a moment to comprehend what she had done. She was prepared to attack again when she stopped. Why should she harm this man? For all she knew it was a different Xander. Buri had no idea about this man. Buri pushed away thoughts of fighting him.
“Oh crap, I’m sorry. You alright?”
Buri swiftly inspected the wound. It didn’t look that bad. It was really just scratches, but Buri still felt bad.
“Sorry, reflex. I’m Buri.” Buri lied about the reflex.
It was not a reflex entirely. It was a combination of the drugs they had pumped into her in the army and the fact the she had lumped the name Xander with Buffy Summers. Buri then realized all she had to do was ask this man if he knew a Buffy Summers, it was too simple. Buri restrained from laughing. She shifted her position and tilted her head to the side.
“Do you know someone by the name of Buffy Summers?”

Xander saw this girls hand rise and before he knew it he felt a burning pain in his cheek, like to hot pokers were pressed against it in nail-sized lines. He yelled in pain, it wasn't a poke in the eye, but it still hurt.Than almost as quickly as she wnet mental Xander spotted this girl calm down
"I'm fine, just some nut decided my face need more scarring" he snapped. Who the heck does that, especcially to someone who has a special sticker on his car that lets him park wherever he wants.
He was officially on edge, he had no idea what this Buri person was up to, but he doubted it was a reflex "Of course, I have a similar reflex, except whenever I'm introduced to someone I tend to shake their hand not their face" he said, hand clutched against his sore cheek.
At the mere mention of Buffy Xander didn't know what to say, he didn't even want to think about Buffy at the moment and if this girl was half as nuts as she seemed to be than he wasn't sure he wanted her near Buffy "I know of her, but so do most people" he lied, he didn't want this Buri to even lay a hand on Buffy, even if Buffy was Buffy at the moment.

Buri raised one of her eyebrows. Obviously this man was planning to be difficult. Buri shrugged. So what. Buri did feel bad about scratching him but that couldn’t be fixed now. Buri looked around her, there was no one around for a ways. It was a rather deep scratch, and it was starting to bleed.
“Oh, don’t be such a baby. You’ll live.” Buri said with a irritated sister tone.
Buri probably got that sisterly tone form her sisters. She loved them so much, but after there death she told herself to hate them. What Xander said was true. She was a nut. Completely insane. In fact it was a wonder she could even function mildly at all. Being in a coma had really pushed her off her rocker.
“Once you go into a coma and wake up with almost everyone you know dead then you can complain. Plus, coma trumps eye any day.”
What Buri said made little sense. It was sort of like a sad attempt at a joke. Well Buri’s head was spinning to fast a the moment to get a coherent sentence out of her.

Xander brought his hand away from his cheek and saw the familar color of ruby red that made his blood so blood colored "Yeah I know I'll live, doesn't mean it doesn't hurt like holy hell, and I should know I've been in the mouth of hell so I know what hell feels like" he snapped, he thought about running but then it might be his throat that cut the slash-attack instead of his face so he decided to stay, maybe this was all a big misunderstanding. Maybe she was looking for a different Xander Harris 'Right a different Xander Harris with one eye and who is friends with the slayer, get real' he thought
He heard about her coma and while he felt bad for her, he knew he could top it "You were lucky to be in a coma, I had to watch. I've seen my best friend die not once, not twice but three frickin times. I saw my bestest best friend go all evil and try to destroy the world and kill me. I had my eye destroyed by a preacher of all things, I nearly died from the pain alone. And for the win, the woman I loved more than anything else in the world died and because we were fleeing for our lives my friends and I had to leave her there so I didn't even get to send her off with a proper burial so while a coma may trump eye, I trump you" he snapped. It felt good to get all of that off of his chest and who better to get it off onto than a crazy nut who may try to kill him...'Good move Harris'

Buri was about to retort that ‘okay you win.’ When she realized something. This was the right Xander Harris, the friend of Buffy Summers. Buri’s fingers twitched. Kill him, do it now. the voice in her head said. Buri pushed it away. This man didn’t deserve to die. If what he said was true then that meant Buffy might be evil. Buri knew she couldn’t go after Buffy when she was evil. It would be like fighting with a stick of butter. Rather pointless. Buri looked up directly at Xander.
“My name is Buri Merchant. I joined the army about a year ago. Before that my cousin and sister were both potentials. My mother was killed and so were my sister and cousin. The army I joined was to annihilate all slayers. I went on a mission in Australia, when I returned there was a fight going on. I got put in a coma and almost lost my arm. Lately I have been trying to find Buffy Summers and kill her. Though since she is evil I guess I don’t have to anymore.”
Buri gave Xander a half smile. God, she was so insane.

Xander was literally angry with rage. The feeling of hatred towards this woman, who's name he now knew was Buri, was so intense. He had no idea what he had done to warrant such treatment other than be friends with one of the best people in the world, who was now effectively lost to him forever.
He listened to her sob story, cos that was what it was in Xander's mind. Another rousing chorus of the "I got screwed so I'll make Buffy pay" song that Xander had heard so much, it really needed to get rewritten. The information about the army may come in use for later though, should Xander live through this encounter, which seemed more and more doubtful as the seconds ticked by. "OK first off Buffy is not evil because whatever is wrong with her is not her. I can't explain it but for some reason I know that that is not Buffy. Second I am her friend, point in fact I'm one of her best friends so there is no way in hell I'd let you lay so much as a hair on her evil or not. And thirdly, must I repeat the list of people I've lost? Cos again it trumps yours in numbers by a mile" he had tried anger, and evidently that wouldn't get his point across, so maybe sympathy would "Look I know what you've been through is tough, believe me I've been there. But what you're talking about... this killing slayers nonsense is, well nonsense. Do you know how many times Buffy has saved the world? cos I gotta tell ya it's a lot. If it weren't for her, you wouldn't be standing at all, cos you would of been killed by a vamp or a demon or some kind of creepy crawly" he said, he was going for inspirational, he could almost hear the cliche dramatic music underneath. OK he was rambling but it was a heartfelt ramble.

Buri said nothing. She was starting to get a headache. Buri brushed her hair away from her eyes. Xander had a point. If not for Buffy and the other slayers Buri might have been dead. But if not for a lot of things everyone would be dead. Buri started to rhetort when the pain in her head got fiercer. She ignored it. “Who gave….h..er the…r-r-right to....” Buri talking was getting sketchy as the pain in her head grew. She didn’t say anything for a few seconds. The pain subsided. Buri was about to finish her sentence when a blinding pain filled her head. Buri stumbled backward. It felt like her head was being blown up from the inside. She kept going backwards, as if she was trying to avoid the pain. Buri tripped and fell into the lake, she didn’t notice herself going under the water. A child screamed. A man was set on fire. The stove exploded, the house burning. The child was trapped in a closet. Fire burning all around her. The clock said 2:23. Burning. Fire. Pain. The father fell to the ground dead.Buri screamed, but she was under water, so she only filled her lungs with water. She then began to flail and convulse. Her flailing brought her back to the surface. She tried to spit out some of the water. Buri remembered that it had been 2:26 when she had first come to the lake. That meant it was probably to late to save the girl anyway. You don’t want to save her. Remember, kill them all. Buri ignored the voice. Buri went under again. ((She is having her first vison. I asked Luke already. Xander can get her out of the water if he wants,(I wouldn't ) if not Buri will get out on the next post.))
