“Red eye, please” said Lila, looking on at the worker behind the counter.
Starbucks was busy, the sound of mass conversation couldn’t be escaped; maybe looking for a place to relax in a busy coffee shop wasn’t the best of ideas but her coffee craving simply could not be ignored. The worker returned with the red eye and laid it down on the counter before ringing up the price of the beverage on the till, he asked for the amount and Lila complied. She wondered why human interaction was so cold on occasion, professionalism could be the cause of such disregard of people and common courtesy, but it could just be the person at hand that it’s down too, whatever it was she didn’t let it phase her.
Considering the events of the night proceeding, Lila’s state of mind was some what shocking; she had attempted a very low grade locator spell and had failed, the worst thing? She had no clue why. It’s one thing knowing what went wrong and being able to fix it, but not knowing and being in an ever lasting state of peril is antagonising for the best of witches.
Lila took the coffee from the counter and turned, looking for a table in the sea of bodies and faces. She saw one in the corner and managed to navigate her way through the customers and chairs, eventually placing down the coffee on the table and sitting on the nearest chair. She had a strap back over her shoulder and placed it down between her legs and pulling a book out into the open before leaving it be.

"What no, I don't want one of those"Finn frowned as he tried to move towards a free seat, all he wanted was the smell of coffee and a chance to read the book he had picked up. Encylopedia Demonica, he smirked to himself, Giles would have flipped a lid if he had seen it and now Finn had it in his hands. Granted it was a watered down version with next to no real facts in it anymore but there was still things to be gleaned from it if you looked just right.
"For crying aloud"he muttered as someone else bumped into him causing him to bang off a table near by "this is nuts, watch where your going."
Looking at the girl whos table he had just bumped he smiled "Hey, sorry about that, do you mind if I steal that seat? I can't be bothered fighting my way through to the one I intended. I figure with any more bumping I'm gonna pop and start screaming. Its not pretty and I would rather avoid it."Flashing her a smile he waited for an answer.

“That’s fine” she replied, barely coming up from behind her book, granted it didn’t cover much of her face, but her eyes were stuck firmly on the pages. She wasn’t reading, more thinking about the spell, barely phased by the young man stood in front of her. She continued to try and skim the pages of her book, before placing it down on the table and taking up her coffee and sipping it elegantly. She turned and finally laid eyes on the man.
“What are you reading?” she asked, ever so provocatively, not one for small talk was Lila, most people appreciated that, but some found it ever so intrusive; it seems opinions differ when it comes to the art of conversation.

"Oh, its a book on mythology. Least thats what the shop guy said. Looks like its a bunch of weird stories made up by some crazy nutter on crack"Finn smiled back at her "I got bored so picked up the most random thing I could find. What about you, anything interesting?
Now in the seat and getting comfy he placed the book title down and looked the girl over before smiling again. Bad habit of his but he couldn't help it nor if he knew would he have stopped it.
The coffee he had bought sat in the cardboard cup next to the book, he didn't seem that bothered by it yet. Now settled he took a slow and mostly unneeded breath for show and let it out gradually "I love the smell of coffee, weird I know but still its relaxing for some reason."

“Oh, it’s nothing; just something random.” She replied, continuing to sip at her coffee. Lila knew full well it was a book on Magic; it just wasn’t something she wanted to advertise. Mostly, people would have just brushed it off with some sort of phrase they happened to think was clever, “Show us a trick” or something along those lines. Lila didn’t know what to think of the man before her, she didn’t even know his name.
“I’m Lila” she announced, cutting half a smile.
The busy Starbucks was slowly becoming even busier; the line for coffee was now reaching the door. People were still speaking somewhat loudly amongst themselves, there was a child that couldn’t have been much younger than 5 behind her, screaming at every opportunity. She didn’t find it particularly aggravating; she just took notice due to the noise.
“I don’t mind the smell of coffee; it’s not something I’ve ever really thought about. I like drinking it though, obviously. I would ask what brings you to Starbucks, but even I could come to my own conclusion with that question.” She replied with a slight giggle.

"Finn" he said with a slight nod, removing the cowboy hat and placing it next to the book and coffee "I had come here to get peace to read, the motel I am staying at is redecorating or something noisy like that. Not that here is being much better."
He hated that kids screaming, it shot through him like a bullet to the brain. Tilting his head to look at the title of her book, annoyingly he couldn't make out the whole title.
Random can be good, random starts conversations with new people."Finn grinned and leaned back in his chair "Besides it can't be worse than a book of bad bedtime stories, right?"

“You’d be surprised” she replied. “Besides, what’s wrong with bad bedtime stories?” she continued.
She reached down into her bag and pulled out a glasses case, she opened it and took the glasses from the hard black case and placed them on, she again took her coffee and indulged herself with another sip.
“So Finn, what are these bedtime stories about?” she inquired.

Was she changing the subject to keep him away from what she was reading or was he being paranoid?
"Actually, I have only flicked through it so all I know is there are some badly drawn pictures of things to make japanese school girls worried"turning the book over title up he took a long breath above his coffee, he couldn't drink it at least not at night but he really did love the smell. "Well its says its about demons, so I guess its a guide to hell. I am sure I told the clerk nothing about religion guess he never listened."
Finn was so used to lies like this it was like second nature to him, he hid what he was and the things that he did. Most people would blow of this book as what he said, just a bunch of silly stories about the things that go bump in the night and not the actual truth. Besides even if she did know about such things he didn't seem to, so it was a win win situation for him.

A blank look came over her face for several seconds before she widened her eyes and looked down at the book, “Demons… a guide to hell?” she replied. “I can see how this is simply viewed as bedtime stories, Finn.” She continued before packing her book swiftly away into the bag beneath the table and finishing up with her coffee.
Luckily for Lila, the child behind her had stopped screaming and the shop had slowly begun to die down, it was probably due to a second assistant at the counter being added. There seemed to be an awkward silence between the two, not surprising when you’re thrown into conversation with a complete stranger.
Lila knew she needed to visit the local Magic Shop after her coffee, but didn’t feel very polite leaving. It wasn’t that she wasn’t enjoying Finn’s conversation, because for a surprise, it was rather pleasant, if not somewhat awkward. Lila had her hair up, which was unusual for the young witch, it was a bold indication that she had been mixing ingredients for a spell earlier in the day, if not right before her entry into Starbucks. She knew it, but Finn didn’t; nor did anybody else in the shop for that matter, it was a great sense of relief to her. Paranoid? Of course, you’d have to be when practicing magic, especially considering the critical nature of the human race.
“So what are your plans for this evening” she asked, as the last word slipped off her tongue, she realized how it could be interpreted as a come on, which it wasn’t. She didn’t know if she should then correct herself, what if he wasn’t thinking that it was? Would she be made to look stupid? She decided to keep quiet, probably for the best.

Seems she knew a little more than she was saying, the hurried stuffing of the book into her bag seemed to say much more than she intended it too. "If its not then I guess I better get myself a better lock on my door"Finn grinned "I mean seriously"flicking the book open at a random page he pointed at the monster it showed "A melaktic demon, says here it sucks the brains out of old women and lives in the remains of cats"frowning a little as his finger traced over the text he knew fine well that this was wrong, that type of demon possessed the cat and drain the life force from its owners, the frail and close to death its prefered target because of the simple and ease to cover the death up with a natural passing of life. "Next it will be saying vampires are real and Dracula doesn't just advertise breakfasts"Finn smirked at her, he was starting to fish now to see just how much she actually knew. "As for the rest of my night, it seems I have found a rather interesting coversation with a rather charming young lady.
